Partnerships Policy
Purpose:
This policy guides the identification, responsible development, execution and monitoring of partnerships between the University of Tasmania and local, national and international partners, which are integral to the University’s learning and teaching, research training, research, and engagement activities.

| 1.1 | The University will pursue partnership arrangements that advance the mission and strategy of the University to make a difference for Tasmania and a distinctive contribution from Tasmania to the world. | Vice-Chancellor |
| 1.2 | In all partnership arrangements the University will complete appropriate due diligence, assess risk and ensure alignment to the University’s values and risk appetite and establish transparent terms and expectations. | Vice-Chancellor |
| 1.3 | For all partnership arrangements, the University will establish agreements that hold a level of enforceability that is proportionate to the risks involved with the partnership and will have appropriate oversight governance and transparent processes for monitoring and managing the terms and expectations of the partnership including compliance with applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. | Vice-Chancellor |
| 1.4 | Partnerships that do not meet the terms or expectations of their agreement, or that may risk or result in the University’s material cooperation in activities that are unethical, inconsistent with the values, or mission of the University, will be subject to review and appropriate action. | Vice-Chancellor |

| 2.1 | Research partnerships will be established with organisations that advance the mission of the University and align with the University’s strategy to contribute global knowledge for excellence and distinctiveness, build research capability, and create impact for and from Tasmania. | Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research |
| 2.2 | Research partnerships that make a material contribution to improving the environmental, social, and/or economic well-being of our local, regional, and/or global communities will be prioritised. | Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research |

| 3.1 | Educational partnerships will be established with organisations that advance the mission of the University and align with the University’s strategy to enhance learning and teaching and research training experiences for students and to provide pathway opportunities for the students of partner institutions, through structured programs developed in consultation with partners. | Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) |
| 3.2 | Educational partnerships that provide pathway opportunities for the students of partner institutions, through structured programs developed in consultation with partners, will be prioritised. | Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) |
| 4 | International partnerships | |
| 4.1 | International partnerships will be established with organisations that align with the University’s strategy to make a distinctive contribution from Tasmania to the world in areas that advance Australian interests, benefit international stakeholders and promote sustainable development. | Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Services and Operations |
