Compliance Policy

Purpose:

This policy supports the University’s commitment to good governance and compliant, transparent, accountable, risk-based decision making.

1.1 The University will maintain an effective compliance framework that is transparent and proportionate in its approach to compliance, have clear accountabilities, and is guided by the University’s risk appetite.

2 Conflict of interest 
2.1

All staff and other University Community members who may be able to make or directly influence University decisions, will:

  • declare all actual, potential and perceived conflicts of interest arising from a personal interest and ensure that they are monitored and effectively managed; and
  • be transparent about gifts and benefits received in the course of their engagement with the University.

2.2

Staff must make a declaration about their conflicts of interest at least annually, even if it is to attest that they do not have any.

3Foreign influence and foreign interference 
3.1The University values the contribution of our foreign collaborations and will be transparent about the nature, level and extent of foreign influence through appropriate disclosure of arrangements with foreign principals.

3.2University activities will manage risks of foreign interference to safeguard academic freedom, University strategy, University controlled intellectual property, the University’s values and research partnerships and collaborations consistent with the University’s risk appetite.

3.3The University will integrate management of foreign interference and foreign influence risks into research, partnerships, employee relationships and affiliations, and intellectual property.

4 Access to information and disclosures 
4.1 The University will routinely and proactively release information where it is assessed to be in the public interest.

4.2 The University will investigate and manage public interest disclosures in accordance with the principles of natural justice.
