New Resource Sharing request system now available

We are thrilled to announce that the new Library System is now live! The enhanced Library Search functionality allows for improved access to materials not held in our Library collections through a single search interface.

The old requesting system has now been decommissioned.

Need access to materials not in our Library collections?  We’re here to help! Through our network of libraries and other suppliers, eligible users can request book loans, book chapters, journal articles, research reports, conference papers, and much more.

  • Eligible users can request items through the Resource Sharing service
  • University of Tasmania staff, postgraduate and higher degree students
  • Honorary Research Associates Final year Research project students
  1. Go to Library Search
  2. Sign in and search for an item
  3. Find the item in the results, select ‘Get it for me from other libraries’

You will then be presented with the following options:

  • Get a physical copy (book or item loan)
    • Click Get It
    • Select your Pickup Location
    • If the request is for a multi-volume work, add the volume number required in Volume
    • For urgent requests, add the word Rush to the note field
    • Click Send to submit request
  • Get a digital copy (scan of a book chapter, article or paper)
    • Fill in additional information
    • Read and agree to copyright terms, by checking the box
    • Click Send to submit request

All digitisation requests are subject to  Australian Copyright Legislation

If the item you require is not in the results list, select Still didn’t find what you need? Click here to send a request link located on search results. Fill in request form, entering as much detail as possible then click Send to submit request.

You can monitor your requests via My Library, and you will receive an email when your request is ready for collection or article has been delivered electronically.

Digital Copies (articles, chapters or papers) are delivered electronically to your University of Tasmania email address. If there a problem with the copy you have received, notify us as soon as possible.

Note: Digital copies are available for 60 days or 3 views only. Remember to save/download your documents within this timeframe if you wish to keep a permanent copy.

Loans (books or other physical items) are held at the library service point you specified as your ‘pick up’ location – you will be notified by email when your loan is ready for collection.

Loans for Off-Campus Delivery clients are posted to their home address and include return postage paid, unless otherwise advised.

A supplying library may stipulate a loan to be for use in the library only, to maintain good relations with the interlending community, we must observe these restrictions. Loaned materials are subject to replacement costs for loss or damage, charges will vary between supplying libraries. Under the Resource Sharing code replacement copies are not accepted.

If you need to make special arrangements for the collection or delivery of items, reach out to us.

Return your loaned items to the most convenient UTAS library service point on or before the due date. Please do not return loan items via the University mail system.

Off-Campus Delivery clients will receive an eParcel Return Postage Paid label to use to post your items back to us. If you misplace your label email us.

Renewals are at the discretion of the supplying library and are not automatically granted, to request a renewal please do so before the due date by email.

The University of Tasmania offers Interlibrary and Document Delivery services to Australian and International Libraries. Individuals should contact their local library to place request with our institution.

Requests are accepted via Trove Resource Sharing (LADD), email or OCLC Worldshare ILL.

The University of Tasmania library adheres to the Australian Interlibrary Resources Sharing code and supplies in accordance with the Copyright Act 1968.

  • Loans are available for six (6) weeks with possible renewals, subject to recall and must be returned promptly.
    Note: some collections are not available for loan.
  • Copy requests may attract additional charges for reproductions above 25 consecutive pages or obtain from offsite storage.

We accept payment via:

  • LADD (Libraries Australia Document Delivery) payment services
  • OCLC IFM libraries requesting via OCLC Worldshare ILL
  • Online Credit Card payment on receipt of invoice. Accepted credit cards limited to Visa and Mastercard
  • IFLA Voucher for other overseas libraries who use this form of payment

All prices are quoted in Australian dollars and include GST, where appropriate.
