Rural Health Training Delivery and Impact Evaluation

Allied Health

This research is being led by the Centre for Rural Health (CRH). The evaluation will encompass rural health training provided to allied health students and nursing students at two rural health training sites in New Norfolk and East Devonport.

Aim

The study aims to describe the rural health training activities at the sites and assess the impact of these activities on student preferences to work rurally, the size and distribution of the rural health workforce, and health outcomes in the two rural communities.

Methods

The evaluation will utilise the following mixed methods:

  1. Longitudinal quantitative and qualitative data to describe the implementation and embedding of rural health training over time; and
  2. A prospective cohort study of health graduates’ work locations.
